Hypnotherapy for Insomnia and Disturbed Sleep

Lack of sleep or disturbed sleep is exhausting, both mentally and physically, and impacts on your daily life. 

Whether it’s insomnia, snoring – yours or your partner’s – nightmares or night terrors, sleepwalking, teeth grinding (bruxism), sleep apnoea or sleep paralysis, hypnotherapy can help.

Everyone needs different amounts of sleep. On average, an adult needs 7-9 hours, a child needs 9-13 hours, babies and toddlers need 12-17 hours. If you’re constantly tired during the day then you’re probably not getting enough sleep. 

You may: 
  • find it difficult to get to sleep
  • wake up several times during the night
  • wake up early and be unable to go back to sleep
  • still feel tired after waking up
  • find it difficult to sleep during the day even though you’re tired
  • feel tired and irritable during the day
  • find it difficult to concentrate during the day because you’re tired

The most common causes of not sleeping well include stress, anxiety or depression, noise, bedroom too hot or too cold, uncomfortable bed, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, recreational drugs, jet lag or shift work.

The good news is that insomnia and other sleep disorders can be helped with hypnotherapy.

So what happens in hypnotherapy for insomnia and disturbed sleep?

Firstly, you and I work together to explore the reasons for seeking hypnotherapy. Then, if necessary, I will contact your GP or another health professional involved in your care. Then we start to work towards relieving your symptoms so you can start to sleep better.  The sessions are calm, non-invasive, boost your resilience and give you tools to help you leave sleeplessness behind.
